Who we are
Give Green Energy is a member-funded start-up designed to allow a large number of people, making small contributions each month, to work together to reduce the impacts of climate change. It is based on the simple idea that humanity can achieve amazing things if enough people work together to reach a common goal.
Ultimately, we plan to use at least 90% of funds raised to develop clean energy projects, which will generate revenue through the sale of clean electricity. Rather than paying this revenue to shareholders or governments, the company will reinvest at least 90% into other clean energy initiatives. This will exponentially increase the impact of a $1 contribution over time.
As the company grows, more and more funds can be used to pursue clean energy initiatives, generating more green energy and revenues. As exponential growth sets in, larger and larger impacts can be made on reducing climate change. This differentiates us from charities and government organisations. We want to direct the same market forces that have contributed to excessive emissions towards solving the problem of climate change.
We are currently in our ‘start up’ phase and looking for our first 1,000 members. Be one of the first to join us and help make real change for the planet!
We plan to achieve our goals by carrying out the following plan:
Step 1: Grow the community to a critical mass
Our first step is to grow to 1,000 members to meet our basic operational costs, including small marketing and outreach programs. This step will provide a solid foundation for future growth and expansion.
Step 2: Complete a micro project
Our next step is to grow to 10,000 members. As this stage, we expect to be able to complete some ‘micro’ green energy projects. These are likely to be small battery projects that can store green energy generated during the day, and sell that energy back to the grid at night, displacing carbon intensive sources of generation in the process.
Step 3: Complete a pilot project
Once we reach 100,000 members, we plan to invest in a 1MWh energy storage project which collects cheap, green energy during the day, and sells that energy at night. The fact that renewable energy, such as solar, is often not generated when it is needed most, such as in the early evening and night-time, is one of the biggest obstacles to the further expansion of renewable energy into the grid. This project will demonstrate that it is possible to generate revenue from ‘time shifting’ green energy production, which can be reinvested into even more green energy storage and generation projects.
Step 4: Continue to expand
Once we have completed our pilot project, we will keep expanding as fast as possible to make as big an impact on climate change as we can.
